Practice areas

A general practice, including:

  • Appeals
    • Attorney Kirchwey has handled over 100 appeals in the Massachusetts and Vermont appellate courts.  She will provide you with an evaluation of the merits of an appeal and, if you decide to proceed, she will give your case the in-depth legal analysis and attention to factual detail that are crucial to effective appellate representation.
  • Civil Litigation
    • Our court system exists so that people can seek redress when they have been wronged.  If you feel you may have a case, or if you have been sued, Attorney Kirchwey can meet with you, advise you of the strengths and weaknesses of the case, discuss your options, and represent you through what could otherwise be an intimidating and frustrating process.  We can help you with cases such as:
    • Contract Disputes
    • Consumer Protection
    • Personal Injury (such as dog bite or car crash)
    • Landlord/tenant (we handle both)
  • DCF cases
    • If the Department of Children and Families has gotten involved in your life, you may feel terrified and alone in a scary system.  Attorney Kirchwey has advocated for parents for nearly 20 years.  She will be a strong voice for you and your family.
  • Family Law:  Divorce, parentage
    • Attorney Kirchwey will help with parental rights and responsibilities (custody), parent-child contact (visitation), spousal maintenance (alimony), property division issues, modifications, enforcements and DCF involvement.  These issues can be addressed in Court, in mediation, or using Collaborative Law.
  • Guardianship
  • Social Security Disability
    • Attorney Kirchwey has been helping people obtain social security disability (SSDI) and supplemental security income (SSI) for over ten years.  Whether you are about to apply, or have received your initial or reconsideration denial, having an attorney who understands how your case will be evaluated and who can best present the particular facts and circumstances of your case can mean the difference between a fully favorable decision and a denial.
